DMX Setup
There are two options for communicating with the lights using the DMX protocol, Wifi or hard wired daisy chained.
Option 1 is over wifi and the preferred method. For this option you need a controller that supports over Wifi communication. Setup and installation is much faster, just connect the lights to power and have a LAN available for the lights to connect to, a lot less wires are used and helps keep everything clean.
Option 2 is hard wiring the controller directly to the lights. This method requires a hardware add-on for the lights. Make sure to message me with this preference if that is what you require.
Connect the lights to wifi:
Please follow this tutorial to connect every light to the local area network.
Pay attention to the custom mDNS and write down the IP address for each light, this might be useful when setting up the controller. If you have multiple lights, make sure each light has a unique mDNS address.
This step is not necessary for option 2 but will be helpful while doing the next steps.
Address light setup:
Once they are all connected on the local wifi we can start configuring the DMX address for each light.
Go to setup from the main menu and click on Sync Interfaces.
Scroll down to Network DMX input.
Make sure Type is selected at E1.31 (sACN)
Define the Universe number, this will depend on how many lights you have.
Each universe holds 512 channels, each LED requires 3 channels for control under the multi RGB mode. This means each universe can only handle up to ~170 LEDs.
Floor Lamp Contains 75 LEDs for example.
Once you set each universe respectively you are all done and can start programming them on the controller side! Have fun and enjoy!
